Nintendo Powaa

I got my new issue of Nintendo Power. I still love that magazine. I think I got every single issue. This month didn't talk about much new, but it looks like Captain N the Game Master will be on DVD today at Best Buy. Gonna have to pick them up for the nostalgia geek factor alone.
I also picked up Hotel Dusk for the DS. Not too bad so far. The story drags at points, but remains strangely interesting. I love the music and art style.
For those like myself that never played the rare Starfox 2 for SNES, you can bid it up right now at http://cgi.ebay.com/SNES-Starfox-2-Super-Nintendo-Rare-Game-MINT_W0QQitemZ170083814365QQihZ007QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Bring $150+ for it.
I saw a fat stack of Wii points cards at Target. Not a big deal. I thought it was interesting considering Gamestops only get 1 a week at best.
Speaking of Wii, SSX should be out this week. Looks intersting. Also, Hudson announced Splatterhouse and Double Dungeons for the T-16 VC. I never played Dungeons because the reviews called it mediocre at best. Now I will see for myself. Splatterhouse has always been a very popular franchise. I never played it at all. I'll have to check that one out as well.

Turtles Arcade on Live

They say its just a rumor, but here is a screen shot for proof. I'd say its worth 400 points for sure. 800 if it was arcade perfect.
Looks like Zelda for VC tomorrow and Alien Hominid for Live on Wednesday.
Also on wednesday os DDR Universe. Finally. I still have the video on my 360 that I downloaded before E3 last year. I hope its come a long way. It just seemed very Ultramixish. The song list just screams US version...which isn't bad, but very very few tracks from Nippon. I hope I can get it to work with the red octane but thats very unlikely.

More auctions of Interest

$300 for shipping? Good Lord! In fact he has some other cool auctions too including a SNES package, Turbo grafx, 3D0 and more. Some rare stuff.

Last item of interest is this gem.

This game is a hit in Japan. Its kinda fun actually, but mostly played by teeny girls. Guys play it too, but not so much. I would love to have it in my house. Tons of songs and great Pop'n artwork. Really tempted to give it a bid, but my wife would kill me =)

Downloadz

Fl0w and Qbert are now available for the PS3 from the store. Haven't gotten to them quite yet though. Ridge Racer 7 demo and Destruction Derby for the PSP also hit the PS Store too. Also available this monday on Wii....Zelda Ocarina of Time. Maybe I'll beat it sometime before I die.

I got a chance to try Small Arms for the 360. Its not too bad. Its a heavy rip off of Smash Bros. Its got surprisingly good clear graphics for a Live Arcade title.

Big news from the Nintendo camp is that SNK wants to bring Neo Geo games to the Virtual console in Japan. Thats a freaking great idea, but the downloads for some games might be quite hefty. I already have half of them on Gametap.

Wii Points Bargains

I prefer to buy those points cards from the store. Not that it makes a difference, but I like to have something material for my purchase. Maybe its a disorder I have to one day be able to say "look at all these redeemed points cards that I have. I am hardc0r3!" I also buy the WoW and SOE time cards too. Every game I downloaded with the Wii, I used a card for. So naturally, I am always on the hunt for them. No stores ever seem to have them on hand and Gamestops get one a week. I was looking on Ebay and stumbled on this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-Wii-Points-NEW-SEALED-UNUSED_W0QQitemZ180085875515QQihZ008QQcategoryZ147176QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
He wants $30 for a $20 card plus he wants to charge $8 for shipping. These people are hardcore! I wish I knew how to make money from people like that. For the record, I only buy my points cards for face value at the brick and morter shops, thank you.

Gametapper

I logged in to Gametap today since WoW, Vanguard, and Xbox Live are all down. The service is still rolling along well and is now about 850 games. Jeez. I was scrolling around and I noticed a few Japanese Genesis games available including Puyo Pop. I never heard of Pyramid Magic, a Lode Runner kinda game. There is an air hockey game called Paddle Fighter and I'm pretty sure that Battle Golfer Yui never made it to US shores either. I still stand by the fact that for the money, Gametap is a great deal.

Speaking of great deals, I was at Sam's Club yesterday and found some nice prices not only on their 4 gallon peanut butter jars, but on PSP games too. I got Tekken Dark Ressurection for only $8. Snatched that puppy right up, yo.

Gonna try and break a sweat on the DDR today. I wanna play at least 40 songs by midnight. I could do it. Just gotta get out of thie computer chair.

New Games to end February

As some of you know, I am coocoo for retro gaming. Therefore, Mondays are just may be my favorite day of the week (since it starts my weekend too). Nintendo has done a good job providing content for the Wii every single Monday. This week stars Donkey Kong Country for the SNES, Streets of rage for Sega, Adventure Island for t-16, and Legend of Kage for NES. I'll have to be honest and say that I never spent too much time with any of these game. I never owned Streets of Rage (gasp!), Adventure Island, or Kage(pronounced Ka-geh). I like Donkey Kong Country. It was a pretty good game. It certainly wasn't a classic in my eyes. Not sure what it was. It just lacked the charm of games like Sonic and Mario. I remember getting that VHS video in the mail from Nintendo promoting it. I think I still got it around here somewhere. Now I need to hook up that darn VCR.

If retro isn't your thing, try one of these this week: Supreme Commander for PC, Sonic and the Secret Rings for Wii, Virtua Fighter 5 for PS3, and Crackdown for the 360. I want to get VF5, but I'm afraid that I won't play it for m0re than a few hours. Its supposed to look very pretty though. I'm saving up my cash for DDR Universe for 360 next week.

Its in the 30s this week. I may have to go outside and frolic in the filthy grass.

Auction of the Week

Ah..to be rich. I'd have the largest game collection known to man and Ebay would be my playground to buy buy buy. I liked this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/Wii-GAME-SYSTEM-PLUS-4-MORE-COMPLETE-NINTENDO-SYSTEMS_W0QQitemZ190081558865QQihZ009QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Mostly because I am a Nintendo nerd.

Speaking of Nerds, if you never seen the Angry Nintendo Nerd, you gotta click it. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=JamesNintendoNerd

I downloaded Root Beer Tapper and Paperboy for the 360. Well worth the $5. Fun games.

I have also been hitting the DDR pretty hard. Had some guys over on Friday and Saturday. Gets me off the PC and onto the dance floor sweating like a worked mule.

SuperNova 2 teaser at AOU

I wish I was there in Japan for the arcade show, but the game doesn't seem to be playable. It is coming this summer. I can wait though. I'm still enjoying SuperNova 1.

Best Buy

Was in Best Buy yesterday and I noticed that they had about 2 dozen Wii Play games. It was odd only because they didn't make it to Gamestops or other stores until today. Very rare for Best Buy to beat the competition. I should have picked up a couple just to try and sell on Ebay. Since the game comes with a free Wiimote, they are going for $65+ now. I guess Wiimotes are still very hard to find. The game itself is not supposed to be that great. Only a handful of the mini games are actually worth it.
I noticed that they had a couple of import DS games too. Jump Anime something and Naruto. The games are clearly from Japan and have a label on it telling you to check out some import manual site. The games looked like they had heavy Japanese reading requirements. I applaud Best Buy in trying this out.
I noticed Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails graced the cover of the Star Tribune today. It was an article on the top 10 teen websites. Alot of music sites. And then Gamefaqs.com. Never would have guessed it. Great site though. I love my cheats.

DDR Supernova 2

Its no secret that it was in the works. Heck, I stumbled upon a pdf file hidden at Betson's website. http://www.betson.com/images/pdfs/coindrop_issue2.pdf. I even got credit for posting it on DDRfreak by a little site called Bemanistyle.com. Kinda made me feel good. Anyways, the pdf indicated that 200-300 new songs would be added. I highly doubt that.

Happy Nostalgia

My updates are gonna have to be small but many. I'll try and sum up the last 2 months.

Everything is going well with Cowlauncher Jr. Teri had her ultrasound recently and he is going great. He is due June 22nd. All heck breaks loose then.

I picked up Parodius and Salamander (Life Force) portables for the PSP. I am impressed. There is alot of content in each disc. I dont see why Salamander can't come out here though. Unlike Parodius, Life Force needs no "cleaning up" or translation. A gripe I have is the PSP screen can't seem to control moving stuff very well. The games become blury at certain points. The bullets sometimes mix in with the background. One of the biggest disappointments in Parodius was the changing of musics in stage 1 and 3 of Parodius 2. They took some awesome toe tapping swing beats and changed it with redneck music. Its not bad, but it takes away from the nostalgic factor. Anybody who played Gokujo Parodius for import Saturn or Playstation will agree.

Speaking of great nostalgia, Wii's virtual console is alive and kicking. Nintendo is actually exceeding my expectations for the Wii. Games are regularly releasing every Monday and content isn't sucky. My memory is almost full. My favs are Casltvania 4, Zelda 3, and Mario Kart 64. Today's releases were Kid Icarus, Kirby's (nes) Adventure, and Ice Climber. Again, not sucky.

Its been awhile.

Been thinking of updating for some time. Life is getting back to normal and everything is good. Still playing at WoW at a ridiculous rate and I got back into DDR a bit heavier now. In fact, my mom has been coming over to play too. Keeps me off the computer. More later.
